Chitai Golu Devta Temple
ChitaiGoluDevta is the most popular Temple in Kumaun and eastern Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state of India. In eastern Garhwal knows the GorilDevta. GorilDevta is the legendary God of theKumaun. It is situated 4 km (2.5 mil) from the main gate of Binsar wildlife sanctuary& about 10 km (6.2 mi) from Almora.
Other famous temple is located near Bhowali. GoluDevta is considered as an incarnation of Gaur Bhairav (Shiva), and is worshipped all over the region. He is regarded as the dispenser of justice by the devotees with extreme faith.GoluDevta’s Brother KalvaDevta is form on Bhairav and Garh Devi is form Shakti.
Normally 3 days or 9 days pooja is performed to worship Lord GoluDevta is called as GoreelDevta in Chamoli district.According to beliefs, GoluDevta is offered Ghee, Milk, Curd, Halwa, Poori, Pakauriand head of Goat sacrificed.
There are many temples of GoluDevata in Kumaun, and the most famous are at Chitai, Champawat, Ghorakhal, Chamarkhan (Tehsil Tarikhet, District Almora). It is popular belief that GoluDevta dispenses quick justice to the devotee.
